While Liver King’s website emphasized that his mission was, “to put back what the modern world has left out, returning our people back to strength and happiness”, and he did gain millions of followers promoting misleading claims about the so-called ‘ancestral diet’, it turns out it all was a sham. Liver King, a popular fitness influencer on TikTok, has come clean about his steroid use.
The “Liver King” of TikTok, whose true name is Brian Johnson, has been exposed as a heavy steroid user despite his claims that he got his ripped body by eating raw animal parts – The “ancestral” diet of beef brains, bull testicles, and raw animal livers. Read on to know more.
Millions of people witnessed 45-year-old Brian Johnson, a.k.a. the ‘Liver King‘, a buff TikTok star who often goes shirtless in public, devour raw animal liver, bull’s testicles, cow’s lungs, and other organs.
Johnson has lately made an apologetic video of a different kind that has gone viral. Johnson finally came clean about his long-standing anabolic steroid use. Over 2.6 million people have watched the confessional video on YouTube.
“Before social media, I was rich and anonymous and after social media, I’m still rich, but no longer anonymous. I never expected this kind of exposure,” he says.
“I lied, and I misled a lot of people,” Johnson admitted on video. “Yes, I’ve done steroids, and, yes, I’m on steroids, monitored and managed by a trained hormone clinician.”
Some people still back Johnson and commend him for being honest about his use of steroids, while others are disappointed or think it doesn’t surprise them.
“NO WAY you looked at the Liver King and thought he was all natural,” ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III wrote on Twitter.
Johnson’s fellow fitness YouTube influencer Derek, aka More Plates More Dates, had already outed him a few days prior to his confession.
Derek showed his followers what he said were leaked emails from the Liver King asking for advice on his use of steroids. In those emails, Johnson talked about his steroid regimen, which included a long list of drugs and hormones. He got regular injections of powerful anabolic steroids like Winstrol, Deca-Durabolin, and testosterone cypionate, as well as Omnitrope, which is a type of human growth hormone.
Johnson is said to have said in the emails that he spent about $US11,000 ($16,400) a month on steroids.
Johnson first posted as the Liver King on Instagram and TikTok in August 2021. Since then, his popularity has risen like a meteor, and he now has more than 1.7 million and 3.6 million followers, respectively. He was a regular guest on popular podcasts hosted by internet stars like Logan Paul, where he always denied the claims that he used steroids.
He told his followers that they should try to live like our hunter-gatherer ancestors did to gain strength and stamina. He promoted nine “ancestral tenets,” such as daily exercise, exposure to the sun and cold, getting enough sleep, being social, and eating a meat-heavy diet with a lot of organ and muscle meats, bone broth, raw full-fat milk and cheese, fermented vegetables, and “wild caught fish eggs.”
He wrote on his website that “ancient primates evolved by eating the whole animal, from nose to tail, horns to hooves.”
