The end of the school year shouldn’t be the end of students’ efforts to stay physically healthy this summer, according to Mayor Eric Adams and Schools Chancellor David Banks.
They were present to unveil a new initiative for students between the ages of 14 and 19 with Planet Fitness outlets in New York City.
It’s called the High School Summer Pass Program.
As teenagers prepare for the summer, Adams said it was crucial to offer them activities and leisure time to keep them occupied and safe. “We are excited to announce this relationship with Planet Fitness, which will give our young New Yorkers access to a free, judgment-free area where they can focus on their physical and mental health.”
Through the fitness chain’s High School Summer Pass Program, New York City high school students can work out for free at any Planet Fitness store nationwide.
High school students between the ages of 14 and 19 are eligible to take advantage of this offer, which is valid until the end of August and is valid at any of the 41 Planet Fitness sites in New York City as well as all other locations in the United States and Canada.

According to Planet Fitness, High School Summer Pass provides a way for kids who want to stay active after school sports programs, gym classes, and extracurricular activities end.
The following is an explanation of how to make use of the program.
It is essential that you are aware that during the time that you participate in the High School Summer Pass program, you will only have access to the club that you have chosen. Find the Planet Fitness location that is most convenient for you.
There are two Planet Fitness locations on Staten Island: one can be found in Graniteville at 2040 Forest Ave., and the other can be found in Travis at 1775 South Ave.
All participants will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the complimentary exercise courses that are provided by Planet Fitness as part of the PE@PF program. Visit your neighborhood club to have a look at the club’s class calendar and to sign up for any of the available sessions. According to Planet Fitness, the smartphone app has a selection of workouts that are broken down according to the user’s current fitness level and will assist you in concentrating on your individual objectives.
Students who sign up for the program will be entered into a drawing for a chance to earn a scholarship worth $500; there will be one winner per state. They will also be eligible to win the grand prize scholarship, which is worth $5,000.
